Experience Alaska by floating down the Delta Clearwater River, the largest spring-fed tributary of the Tanana. This crystal clear river is 20 miles long and flows into the Tanana River 20 miles upstream of the Richardson Highway Bridge.
Floating Trip: Clearwater River
- June 12 - Register by June 9
- June 18 - Register by June 15
- Meeting Time: 9:30 a.m.
- Location: Outdoor Recreation, Bldg. 627
- Limited to: Minimum 4 people. Maximum 8 people.
- The trips are weather dependent.
Additional details:
- Participants must drive their own vehicles to and from the site (Clearwater River).
- Outdoor Recreation will transport kayaks and supplies to and from the event location.
- Please bring water and snacks as this is an all-day event.
Float Trip Gear Checklist
- Your packing list will vary by time of year, location, and trip purpose. But regardless, you’ll want to bring:
- Flotation devices (lifejackets) - Provided by Outdoor Recreation
- First-aid kid adequate for multi-day trip and limited accessibility
- Enough layers to stay warm and dry on the boat and in camp.
- Non-cotton layers (polypropylene or similar) and fleece. Wind off the cold water can bring down the temperature 10-15 degrees.
- Sunscreen
- Bug spray/headnet
- Dry suit or wet suit for cold whitewater rivers (it can save you if you flip)

- The trip is open to MWR Eligible Patrons 18 years of age and older.
- Payment is due at the time of registration.
