The Fort Greely FMWR Valdez Glacier Campground is located at the base of the Chugach Mountains beneath the famous Valdez Glacier. Glacier run-off provides a beautiful waterfall that cascades into a crystal clear creek next to our Large Group Camping Area. Without a doubt, visitors to the campground will be struck by its beauty and grandeur. The campground is perfect for both outdoor enthusiasts and nature photographers alike. Family and pet friendly, the Valdez Glacier Campground is the perfect place to spend an Alaskan Summer.
The campground offers 87 standard campsites, 21 RV pads (20/30, 50 amp.), Travel Trailers to rent, bath house, a dump site and six latrines. All sites include picnic tables and fire rings.
- Rental Travel Trailers
Authorized users can rent travel trailers that are permanently placed at the campground. FMWR has a small office located at the entrance of the campground equipped with staff for onsite assistance. Trailers are not equipped with running water. However, there is a modern bathhouse with hot showers. There are kitchen areas equipped with a stove, refrigerator, microwave, and sink. Customers are responsible for providing their own bedding, linens, pillows, towels, kitchen utensils, etc.
- Group Camping
There are three large group areas that provide plenty of room for group camping, reunions, birthday parties, weddings, and other family events. Two of these three areas have waterfalls. The other has a pavilion with grills. Advance reservations are required.
The campground is open 24 hours a day! May thru September - being Labor Day, last open day of the Season.
