Join Outdoor Recreation for some ice fishing action at Quartz Lake. If you are new to ice fishing, then here is your chance to see how it’s done.

Winter Adventure Additional Details
- Meeting point: Quartz Lake
- Fishing Trip: 12-4 p.m.
- Number of participants: Limited to a maximum of four (4) registered families
- One (1) tent per family
- Participants must drive their own vehicles to the site.
- Please park at the Quartz Lake parking lot and walk out on the lake near ODR warm portable pop-up shelters.
An Alaska State Fishing License is required!
- All residents age 18 or older and nonresidents age 16 or older must purchase and possess a sport fishing license. Sport fish licenses and king salmon stamps may be purchased online, at most sporting goods stores, and at Fish and Game offices.
- To purchase online or for additional information, visit the ADF&G website.
- Alaska residents aged 60 or older and Alaska disabled veterans who maintain their residency may participate in sports fisheries without a sports fishing license. However, they must apply for and possess an ADF&G Identification Card.
- Alaska Identification Card applications are available online and at Fish and Game offices.

Essential List of Ice Fishing Gear
Stay safe out on the ice and be sure to bundle up and stay warm!
- Outdoor Recreation will provide ice fishing equipment like fishing poles and bait and ice augers.
- Clothing and Footwear
- Be sure to bundle up with a warm coat, layers, boots, gloves, and more. Pack extra socks in case your feet get wet.
- Ice fishing boots with cleats
- Ice fishing jacket (or a heavy winter coat), Ice fishing pants (or snow pants), Ice fishing suit
- Ice fishing gloves, hat, bib
- Food and Drink
- Snacks
- Water (consider an insulated hydration reservoir and sleeve, or a thermos, if temperatures are below freezing)
- Other Ice Fishing Gear
- Sunglasses if you’ll be around snow or ice
- Ice fishing seat, sled
- Ice Fishing Camera
- Ice fishing bucket
- Cooler
- Don’t forget your emergency kit!
