Get ready for some snowmachining fun in the heart of the wilderness! Come and enjoy one of the most beautiful mountain lodges in Interior Alaska, Maclaren River Lodge. Don't miss spectacular northern lights, ice cave excursions, endless snowmachine trails to explore, and much more!

Winter Adventure Additional Details

  • Meeting point: Outdoor Recreation, Bldg. 627
  • Meeting time: 9:30 a.m.
  • Number of participants: Limited to a minimum of four (4) and a maximum of six (6) registered participants. 
  • Participants must drive their own vehicles from the meeting point at Outdoor Recreation Bldg. 627 to the Paxson Lodge Parking Lot departure point.

Winter Gear - What you should pack for your trip

  • All riders need to dress warm and in layers with insulated underwear. Wear water-resistant and insulated outerwear/footwear, boots, coats, snow pants, neck warmer, insulated gloves; a balaclava is a must for the helmet. Tennis shoes are not allowed.
  • Please feel free to consult with an Outdoor Rec staff member before your trip to ensure you have the proper gear. 
  • Don't forget the snacks and drinks for the trails.

Remember, this is an overnight trip - get your backpack ready with all the essentials for the two-night winter adventure.

About Maclaren River Lodge
 

The lodge is located on the Denali Highway in the majestic Maclaren river valley near the base of the Maclaren Glacier. This is a high alpine country, the Denali Highway is the state's second-highest highway pass.

Cost

Lodging: $100 per night

600 Summit Rental:

  • Affiliated (Soldiers, Families, Civilians, Retirees) - $180 per person
  • Non-Affiliated (Direct Contractors) - $200 per person

*Equipment Rental includes one (1) tank of gas only. The customer is responsible for additional gas expenses.

  • Riders must have proof of completing the Safety Riders Course Level 1 before registering for the trip.
