To celebrate the Month of the Military Child, Authorized MWR patrons ages 5-18 years old, are invited to submit entries for the Kids Photo Contest! 

We are aware of the enormous challenges confronting our kids and the disruptive impact the COVID-19 is having on their lives. We hope that we can provide children a means of self-expression and reflection – a safe, creative outlet to process their emotions and make sense of their world and have fun. 

Eligibility

  • Authorized MWR patrons ages 5-18 years old are eligible to enter.
  • TWO (2) DIVISIONS
  • Children: 5-12 years old
  • Youth: 13-18 years old

Theme

Young photographers can enter pictures of how their families have enjoyed the outdoors or nature during April, Month of the Military Child.

Photos can be of kids exploring the outdoors or outdoor theme photos taken by children – whether in the woods, in the backyard, or anywhere else in the great outdoors.

CATEGORIES

Entrants must submit their photographs into the categories that best fit the scope of each individual image. Each picture may only be assigned one category.

  • Military Lifestyle - Photos that portray military child life
  • Nature & Landscapes - Landscapes, outdoor scenes, nature images, sunsets, etc.
  • Outdoor Adventures - Winter activities like ice fishing, cross country skiing, snow tubing, etc.
  • People - Photos where a person is the main focus.

How to Enter

  • Participants may enter one (1) photo per category (up to 4 submissions) during April. 
  • Participants must submit photos between 12 a.m. (AKDT) April 8 and 11:59 p.m. (AKDT) April 30, 2020, by a direct message to Fort Greely Family and MWR Facebook Page.

GENERAL ENTRY GUIDELINES

  • All digital photos accepted (mobile, camera, iPad) 
  • All submissions must be the original work of the entrant and do not violate any third party's proprietary or intellectual property rights.
  • Youth participants must take photos without the assistance of an adult.
  • Photos with a date stamp or photographer's name on the picture will be disqualified.
  • All photos must have a unique title for identification; "Untitled" is not acceptable as an entry title and will be disqualified.
  • Explanatory text about the photo on the entry message should be brief and concise.
  • All submissions must include the Name and Age of the Child/Youth.

WINNERS

Winners' names will be posted on Fort Greely Family and MWR Facebook Page on May, National Photography Month. Prizes do not imply endorsement by the Army or any other party.

Winner Selection and Notification:

  • 1 Winner for each category (per age group) will be randomly selected after the close of the participant's submission period (11:59 p.m. (AKDT) April 2020). 
  • Winners will be notified by private message within five (5) days following the selection of Winner. 
  • Fort Greely Family and MWR shall have no liability for Winner's failure to receive notices.
  • If Winner cannot be contacted, is ineligible, or fails to claim the prize within seven days (7) from the time award notification was sent, the prize may be forfeited and an alternate Winner will be selected. 

PROPERTY RELEASE

  • By entering the content (photo, text, etc.), parents or guardians grant Fort Greely Family and MWR the right to use submissions for purposes of advertising in any media outlets without notice.

Terms & Conditions:

In the event, Fort Greely Family and MWR is prevented from continuing with the Contest, or the integrity of the Contest is severely undermined by any event beyond the Army's control, shall have the right, in its sole discretion, to abbreviate, modify, suspend, cancel or terminate the Contest without further obligation. 

Fort Greely Family and MWR will not be held responsible for entries which may be undelivered, delayed or illegible entries. Fort Greely Family and MWR reserves the right at their sole discretion to disqualify any individual who tampers with the entry process and/or voids any entries submitted fraudulently.
