Youth ages 12-18 can increase their community involvement through the CYS Babysitter Program by assisting parents in need of trained childcare babysitters.
The primary purpose of the training is to provide youth who are planning to babysit with the knowledge and skills necessary to safely and responsibly give care for children and infants.
Topics such as choosing age-appropriate activities, basic child care, like bottle feeding, child behavior, leadership, professionalism, babysitting etiquette, safety, and how to respond to basic emergencies, will be covered.
The CYS Babysitter Course is a two-part series. After completion, youth must attend to the American Heart Association (AHA) CPR, First Aid, and AED Training for Pediatrics, Children, and Adults Class. CYS-registered teens will have the opportunity to earn their certification while learning valuable life skills in the second part of the course.
