Covid-19 Updates

UPDATED 2/10/22 • 11:15 A.M. (AKDT)

⚠️ COVID-19 Alert UPDATE ⚠️ If you are sick, PLEASE STAY HOME. Anyone exhibiting signs of COVID-19, including fever, cough, runny nose, or sore throat, immediately limit your interaction with others and contact your medical provider and/or the Army Public Health Team at +1(907)361-3057.

As COVID-19 cases continue to rise statewide, we must remain vigilant and urge our local community to work with us and help prevent the spread, not to reverse the hard work we have done.

In response, USAG Alaska-Fort Greely has implemented new safety measures effective January 24. This new guidance is a critical step to protect the health and safety of the community and those who serve you to ensure we remain capable of providing essential services.

As the situation changes, stay connected to USAG Fort Greely and Family & MWR Facebook pages as we regularly update our programs and facilities with new resources and information.

Fort Greely Family and MWR's new safety guidelines can be found under the Mitigation Measures 2022 below.

USAG Alaska, Fort Greely - Garrison Workforce Update - 21 Jan, 2022

Workforce Message from U.S. Army Garrison Alaska, Fort Greely Commander LTC Joey Orr.

Team Greely,

I am sincerely thankful for your continued diligence throughout the entire COVID-19 pandemic. The safety precautions we have all taken, and the efforts we have made as a team, are making a difference on post and in the community ... but there's more work to be done.

Fairbanks North Star Borough and the Southeast Fairbanks Census Area are currently experiencing a spike in new cases ... with both areas reporting "HIGH" transmission levels. Fort Greely is also witnessing an increase in cases, which is dictating me to take deliberate and immediate action to protect the workforce and our population.

I remind you to continue to practice responsible mitigation factors. Keep wearing your masks, keep practicing social distancing, and remember to wash your hands frequently as needed.

For the garrison workforce, I am directing employees to transition to "Situational Telework" when the mission allows, beginning Monday, January 24, 2022. Garrison leadership is closely monitoring the situation and making decisions based on informed discussions with experts, directorate leadership, and senior leaders within and outside of Alaska.

As we directed during our recent weather event, ALWAYS check with your supervisor for specific guidance and individualized direction.

I am also directing the following mitigation measures to begin on Monday, January 24, 2022:

  • Dining Facility will transition to "take out" only for all meals.
  • Fahrenheit Grill will transition to "take out" only; 907-873-4781.
  • The Bowling Center will require reservations; 907-873-4782.
  • Postponement of all intramural sports and bowling leagues
  • Gym will add mitigation/safety measures to equipment and facilities.
  • Personnel Readiness Facility (indoor track) will require reservations; 907-873-2696
  • Aquatics Center will transition to social distancing swimming lanes only.
  • Chapel services will transition to virtual services only, effective Sunday, January 23, 2022
  • NO change to CURRENT Child Development Center protocols.

Those with questions regarding Family & Morale, Welfare and Readiness policies and programs can call 907-873-3574 for more information.

These measures are being put in place to protect each and every member of Team Greely. We will remain vigilant to protect our force so that the force can protect our nation!

I'm so thankful for your patience and understanding during these difficult times.
