Guidance on the use of Masks

We are excited to welcome you back into our facilities – your health and safety remain our highest priority. As a result, extensive safety measures have been enacted to protect the health of the community.

Per the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) — People age 2 and older must wear a mask in indoor public settings even if fully vaccinated.

Workforce Message regarding COVID-19 from U.S. Army Garrison Alaska, Fort Greely Commander LTC Joey Orr.

Team Greely,

Effective immediately, in areas of substantial or high community transmission, DoD is requiring all service members, federal employees, onsite contractor employees, and visitors, regardless of vaccination status to wear a mask WHILE IN AN INDOOR setting on installations and other facilities owned, leased, or otherwise controlled by DoD. Although small in population, the local region has experienced a recent increase in reported cases. This places our population into the “high” category.

What does this mean for the Garrison:

All programs, services, and activities will continue to operate under the existing guidance, with the addition of mask wear in all DoD facilities regardless of vaccination status.

Additionally, service members, federal employees, onsite contractor employees, and visitors not fully vaccinated also need to continue to physically distance consistent with applicable CDC and DoD Force Health Protection Guidance.
